Chittagong University student suddenly collapsed on the reading table, died after being taken to hospital

Jivak Chakma (20) was sitting at the reading table in the morning like any other day. Then suddenly he collapsed. His classmates understood and rushed him to the medical center. Then he died there.

Jivak Chakma is a first year student of Anthropology Department of Chittagong University. He is a resident of Ramhari para of Nanyarchar post office in Nanyarchar upazila of Rangamati. His father’s name is Ravilendu Chakma. His first year final exam is scheduled to be held from next Tuesday.

Jeevak lived in Chakma University’s Vishwashanti Pagoda hostel. Classmates said that Jivak did not go home even during Biju festival due to exams. However, he was not given the test.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital doctor Jivak Chakma was declared dead at 9:20 am on Sunday. Abdullah Hossain, Deputy Inspector of Chittagong Medical College Hospital Police Outpost, confirmed the matter at first sight.

Anvesh Chakma, president of Chittagong Hill Tracts Students’ Parishad (JSS-supported) university branch and post-graduate student of history department, said, “Jivak suddenly fell ill while sitting at the table reading in the morning. After that he was quickly taken to the university medical center. Later he was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital on doctor’s advice. There the doctor declared him dead.

Mohammad Abu Taib, chief medical officer of the university medical center said, “He was brought to the medical center around 7:45 am.” No injury marks were found on his body. As immediate diagnosis was not possible, he was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital with oxygen.

Abdullah Hossain, deputy inspector of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost, said, “After being taken to the emergency department, the doctor declared him dead at 9:20 am. Initially, it is believed that he died due to a stroke.
