The Bangladesh Election Commission has announced that an updated voter list will be officially published on August 31, ahead of upcoming local government elections. The commission has issued formal directives to all sub-district and police station election officers, mandating strict adherence to a schedule designed to finalize the registration of eligible citizens.

Under the commission’s established criteria, individuals born on or before July 31, 2008, who have registered their information in the national database by the end of July, will be included in the final electoral roll. To ensure the accuracy of the process, the commission has established a structured timeline for publishing draft lists, addressing public claims or objections, and completing necessary corrections.

The administrative process begins with the preparation of digital draft lists, which are scheduled for distribution to field-level registration officers by August 4. Following this, the draft voter list will be made available for public review on August 9. Citizens will have until August 24 to submit applications regarding claims, objections, or corrections. Authorities are tasked with resolving these issues by August 27, with the resulting amendments to be incorporated into the records by August 28.

To ensure broad public participation and transparency, election officials have been instructed to conduct an extensive outreach campaign. This includes requesting that imams and priests make announcements at local mosques and temples, alongside coordinating with local journalists and cable television operators to broadcast information regarding the public inspection period and the process for correcting errors.
