Bangladesh Army deployed to assist flood relief efforts in Chittagong

The Bangladesh Army has been deployed across the Chittagong district to conduct emergency rescue and relief operations following devastating flash floods caused by persistent heavy rainfall and surging mountain runoff. Acting under the mandate of “In Aid to Civil Power,” military personnel began their response on Friday at the formal request of the Chittagong district administration.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that troops from the 10th and 24th Infantry Divisions have been mobilized to address the crisis. In the hard-hit sub-districts of Lohagara, Satkania, Chandanaish, and Banshkhali, where approximately 400,000 people remain stranded by rising waters, the 10th Infantry Division has deployed specialized rescue teams and critical equipment to evacuate residents and distribute aid.
Simultaneously, the 24th Infantry Division is managing relief efforts in Boalkhali, Hathazari, and Fatikchhari. To streamline operations and ensure efficient distribution of supplies in these submerged regions, the division has established three dedicated field camps. Military personnel are working continuously to reach isolated communities and provide essential support to those affected by the inundation.
Army officials stated that the force remains committed to standing alongside the civil administration to protect lives and property during natural disasters. The ongoing deployment is expected to continue until the flood situation stabilizes and the safety of the affected population is restored.
