Attack on deputy director of cancer hospital over tender dispute: RAB

The deputy director of the National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital of Mohakhali in the capital. RAB has announced the arrest of five people including the main accused in the terrorist attack on Ahmad Hossain. They say that the preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident occurred due to a dispute over tenders for various works of the National Cancer Hospital.
This information was given in a press conference at RAB’s media center in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Tuesday.
Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, director of RAB’s law and media wing, said in a press conference that the main accused Shariful Alam alias Karim along with Aminul Islam (Kalu), Sajjad (Badi), Salahuddin and Arifuzzaman were arrested from different areas of Dhaka last night in an operation with the help of intelligence surveillance and information technology.
The RAB official also said that the doctor was attacked on his way home from the hospital after his duty on Monday afternoon. Around four in the afternoon, he was walking through an alley behind the old campus of BRAC University in Mohakhali. At that time, two to three armed miscreants ambushed him. His hands and back were hit repeatedly with sharp weapons.
In this incident, the administrative officer of the hospital filed a case against 8 to 10 unknown persons in Banani Police Station of the capital. Efforts are on to arrest those who are involved in this incident.
According to RAB, the attack started from a dispute between two parties over a work tender. One of these parties is the ‘EME Traders of Ruble’; The other party is ‘Monaim Group’. Rubel of IMM Traders is now based in Malaysia. Attacks were carried out by employing mercenary terrorists from there. The person named Rubel is the main planner of this attack. Shariful Alam Karim, who stayed in the country under his instructions, was involved in the planning and implementation. According to the information obtained in the preliminary investigation, this attack was done in exchange of only 20,000 rupees.
