At least 50 people were injured by dog bites in Sakhipur in two days

At least 50 people were injured by dog bites in Tangail’s Sakhipur in two days. One of them has been sent to Dhaka’s Mohakhali Infectious Disease Hospital. This incident happened in Sakhipur Municipality and Kalia Union today Monday and yesterday Sunday.
According to the local residents, a dog biting Abdur Rashid of Debalchala village of Kalia Union and some women and children entered the city of Sakhipur at around two o’clock yesterday. Then bitten at least 20 people from Andhi to Uttara Mor. Around 10 pm yesterday, the dog went to Kachua area via Kaharta village. Several women and children were bitten again in Kalia, Ghonarchala and Damia areas on Monday morning. At least 9 children and 10 women are among the injured. In two days, 45 of the injured persons were treated at the Upazila Health Complex. Others have received treatment at various private clinics.
Among the injured, Abdur Rashid has been sent to Dhaka’s Mohakhali Infectious Disease Hospital. Hafizur Rahman, deputy assistant community medical officer of the emergency department of the Upazila Health Complex, said that his condition is critical.
Khandkar Habibur of Kalia Ghonarchala village came to the hospital around 10:30 this morning and said, “I took my granddaughter to school in the morning. On the way back home, before I knew anything, the dog came and started biting. People came at my shout. Dogs started biting those people too.
Mehran Begum of the same village said, “I was holding my granddaughter when the dog jumped and bit her.” While trying to save him, he bit me too.
Going to the upazila health complex, it can be seen that the health workers are struggling to treat the injured. The wound is being washed with soap and water. Emergency department doctor Shamima Ahmed said that everyone was bitten by dogs in multiple places. The bite wounds are quite deep. First aid was given to them. This includes elderly men and women and children.
