Armed gang raids Noakhali business home, loots cash and jewelry

An armed gang of masked robbers raided a businessman’s residence in the Sreepur area of Sonapur, Noakhali, early Thursday morning, assaulting five family members and fleeing with cash and jewelry. The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. when the perpetrators forced their way into the home of Mofazzal Hossain, also known as Farhad.

According to the homeowner, a group of eight to ten armed individuals breached the house by cutting through a heavy-duty iron gate. Once inside, the assailants held the occupants at gunpoint, binding the hands, feet, and mouths of Hossain, his two sons, and other family members. The robbers then ransacked the property, seizing 600,000 taka in cash, three bhoris of gold ornaments, and other valuables.

Five family members, including Hossain, sustained injuries during the attack. They received local medical treatment following the incident and have since notified the Sudharam police.

Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Nazrul Islam confirmed the robbery, stating that he and the Additional Superintendent of Police for the Sadar Circle, Mohammad Liakat Ali, inspected the scene shortly after receiving the report. Authorities have instructed the victims to file a formal written complaint to initiate a comprehensive investigation and legal proceedings.
