Appointment of two more special assistants to the Prime Minister

Two more special assistants have been appointed to Prime Minister Tariq Rahman. Among these, SM Ziauddin Haider has been appointed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Affairs at the rank of State Minister. In addition, Md. Saimoom Parvez has been appointed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Environment, Forests and Climate Change in the rank of Secretary.

This appointment was announced in a separate notification of the Cabinet Department and the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday. As per Prime Minister Rules of Business, Ziauddin Haider has been appointed and assigned as Special Assistant. Saimoom Parvez, on the other hand, has been appointed on a one-year contract.

Earlier, four special assistants of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman were appointed on April 2. Among them, two were appointed in the rank of Minister of State and one Secretary and another in Grade-II rank.

Bijan Kanti Sarkar, a former bureaucrat, was made the Special Assistant on Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and Ethnic Affairs and Tanveer Gani was made the Special Assistant on Investment and Capital Markets among the two appointed as Ministers of State.

In addition, Md. Shakirul Islam Khan in the rank of secretary of foreign employment affairs in the Asia Pacific region and Md. Syed bin Abdullah was appointed as Special Assistant on Youth Employment with Grade-II rank. They have been appointed on contractual basis.

After the absolute victory in the 13th National Assembly elections, the 50-member cabinet led by BNP Chairman Tarek Rahman took oath on February 17. After that, the offices of ministers and state ministers were redistributed several times.

In all, now the number of members of the new cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman is 49. Among them, 25 are full ministers and 23 are state ministers, except the prime minister. There were 10 advisers to the Prime Minister in the status of Ministers and Ministers of State. Apart from this, three have become special assistants in the rank of state ministers.
