Advance sale of train tickets for Eid trip started on May 13

Bangladesh Railway has decided to sell train tickets in advance on the occasion of upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha. Advance ticket sales will begin on May 13. This time also 100% advance tickets will be sold online.
This decision was taken in a preparatory meeting at the Ministry of Railways today on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha celebration. Accordingly, tickets for May 23 journey will be sold on May 13. Similarly, the tickets will be available on 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of May 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th respectively. After Eid, the sale of tickets for the return journey of the train will start on May 21.
Secretary of the Ministry of Railways. Fahimul Islam told Prothom Alo that it was decided to sell tickets in advance from May 13 in the preparatory meeting. Earlier, a meeting was held on April 30 regarding Eid preparations. The plan to sell advance tickets, which was decided in that meeting, was presented in yesterday’s meeting. After discussion it was approved.
Like the previous Eid, this year also train tickets will be sold from 8 am every day in the western region of the railway (Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions). And at 2 o’clock the sale of train tickets for eastern region (Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Mymensingh division) will start.
As per the ticketing guidelines, a passenger can purchase a maximum of four tickets once a day for both onward and return journeys on Eid. These tickets are non-refundable. For the convenience of passengers, 25 percent of the total number of train seats will be sold on the day of departure. However, this ticket cannot be used to travel in higher class coaches.
According to railway information, 10 special passenger trains will be run on the occasion of Eid. Among these trains, ‘Tista Special’ will run on Dhaka-Dewanganj route and ‘Chandpur Special’ will run on Chittagong-Chandpur route. These two trains will run from May 25 to the day before Eid and for the next three days from the second day of Eid.
Apart from this, ‘Parvatipur Special’ will run on Joydevpur-Parvatipur route for three days from May 24 to 26 before Eid and three more days after Eid. Other four special trains will run on Eid only. These trains will transport passengers from Bhairav and Mymensingh to Sholakia Eidgah.
Apart from this, there will be two special animal trains (Cattle Special) for transporting sacrificial animals. These two cattle trains will run on May 22 and 23. The two trains will depart from Dewanganj Bazar and Islampur Bazar and arrive at Kamalapur, Tejgaon and Dhaka Cantonment stations.
