A young man died after falling from the roof of an 11-storey building in Dhanmondi

A youth named Arnab Islam (34) died on the spot after falling from the roof of an 11-storey building in Dhanmondi of the capital, police said.
This accident happened around 12 noon on Saturday. Later he was rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
The police of Dhanmondi police station say that Arnab fell from the roof of house number 31 of Dhanmondi road number 11 at noon. He died on the spot.
The deceased Arnav is the son of the owner of that house. His father is dead. Mother married second. He lived in that house with his brother and sister. The building has 11 floors and on the roof there is an elevator machine room as high as one floor. The police said that he fell down from the roof of that machine room.
Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Saiful Islam told Prothom Alo that there is a CC (Closed Circuit) camera on the roof next to the elevator room. In the footage of that camera, it was seen that Arnav climbed the stairs alone to the roof. Then he died on the spot when the elevator machine fell down from the top of the room. The body was recovered and sent to Dhaka Medical Hospital for autopsy.
Citing Arnav’s mother, OC Saiful Islam also said that he was physically ill. He has also been referred to a psychiatrist several times. However, whether there is any other reason behind the death, it will be investigated.
