50,000 Yabas along with policemen arrested in Chittagong

A policeman was arrested in Chittagong while taking Yaba collected from Cox’s Bazar to Khulna. His name is Ashiqul Islam. He is working as Constable in Khulna District Police. Baklia police arrested him along with 50,000 yabas in front of Shaheed Bashruzzaman roundabout in Shah Amanat bridge area of Baklia police station of Chittagong city on Tuesday morning. Ashiqul is the son of Babar Ali Munsi of Gobindpur Union of Muksudpur Police Station in Gopalganj.
Baklia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Solaiman told Prothom Alo that Ashiqul was arrested after searching the roundabout area. 50 thousand Yaba were recovered from him. A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act at the police station in this incident. The arrested accused has been sent to jail by the court.

Khulna District Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Anisuzzaman told Prothom Alo this afternoon, “I have learned about the arrest of a policeman along with Yaba in Chittagong. Departmental action is being taken against him.’ In response to a question, he said that it could not be confirmed whether Constable Ashiqul was on leave or had come to Chittagong while on duty.
