41 Awami League leaders resign in Muksudpur amid organizational shift

Forty-one local Awami League leaders and activists in Muksudpur, Gopalganj, have announced their formal resignation from the party, citing personal, familial, and social considerations. The mass departure, which encompasses all primary memberships and organizational roles, marks a significant shift in the local political landscape.
The announcement was made Monday evening at the Gobindpur Union Parishad building, where Mofizur Rahman (Farid) Munshi, the vice president of the Muksudpur Upazila Awami League and president of the Gobindpur Union branch, read a formal statement. He confirmed that he and his fellow party members would cease all political and organizational involvement, effective August 3.
In his address to the press, Munshi emphasized that the decision was reached entirely on personal grounds and requested that the move be respected by all relevant parties. The departing group includes a broad spectrum of local figures, notably Saiful Islam (Sabu), Abu Zara Kazi, Kamrul Munshi, and several others who held various responsibilities within the party structure.
Despite the scale of the resignation, the leaders refrained from disclosing any future political affiliations or intentions. They offered no commentary on whether they planned to join other organizations or remain independent of active politics, leaving the long-term implications for the local Awami League unit uncertain.
