About 1 crore animals are likely to be sacrificed across the country this time on the holy Eid-ul-Azha, said Fisheries and Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin ur Rashid. He said that the government has taken all kinds of effective measures to ensure that the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals is completely safe, starting from the marginal farmer to the buyer.
The minister said this while talking to reporters after visiting Comilla Nagar’s Neura animal market at noon on Tuesday (May 26).

Noting that raising sacrificial animals around the holy Eid-ul-Azha is one of the biggest sources of income for marginal farmers and ranchers, Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid said that millions of families in the country are financially benefiting from rearing and selling sacrificial animals, which is slowly becoming an industrial economic activity. For this reason, the government is very careful to protect the interests of marginal farmers.
Amin ur Rashid said that a large number of cattle are sacrificed in Bangladesh every year, which is one of the largest sacrifices in the world. Around this festival, farmers and ranchers across the country prepare cows, goats, sheep and buffaloes for a long time, which is a great opportunity for their economic well-being.

Highlighting the role of the government in increasing the capacity of farmers, the minister said that besides various support and training, initiatives have been taken to increase farm-based production. This is increasing the trend of commercial animal husbandry in the country, which is further boosting the agrarian economy.
Regarding the security and management of animal markets, the minister said that every animal market in the country is closely monitored by the administration, law enforcement and livestock department. Each market has a veterinary medical team on duty, who ensure animal health check-up and treatment. Apart from this, necessary security measures including fake note detection machines have been kept in the market to deal with the risk of fake money.
Regarding extortion or mismanagement, the minister said, no major complaint has been received so far and the administration is on high alert. Field supervision will continue till the eve of Eid, so that buyers and sellers can trade smoothly.
