Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has signaled a departure from political discourse surrounding his upcoming film, “Batawara 1947,” emphasizing a desire to avoid making negative remarks about Pakistan. As the industry anticipates the release of his latest project, the actor underscored the shared historical ties between India and the neighboring nation, stating that he refuses to contribute to ongoing regional tensions.
Reflecting on the historical interconnectedness of the two countries, Deol invoked a sentiment once expressed by his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, to describe the relationship. By characterizing India as a mother and Pakistan as an aunt, Deol illustrated a perspective rooted in kinship rather than conflict, noting that the two nations are inextricably linked by a collective past that transcends modern political borders.
The actor urged the public and media to separate the craft of cinema from political agendas.
