Actress Kangana Ranaut has launched a sharp personal attack against veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, referring to him as a “fox” amid an escalating public dispute involving multi-faceted artist Piyush Mishra. The controversy, which centers on political neutrality and social activism within the Hindi film industry, has drawn significant attention on social media.

The confrontation originated during a protest at Jantar Mantar regarding alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). During the event, Naseeruddin Shah criticized the silence of certain Bollywood celebrities, remarking that “a dog cannot bark if it has a bone in its mouth.” This comment, widely interpreted as a swipe at stars perceived as being loyal to the establishment, sparked immediate backlash.

Actor Piyush Mishra challenged Shah’s remarks, questioning the veteran actor’s own silence regarding student movements in Jharkhand. Ranaut subsequently amplified this criticism by sharing Mishra’s post and voicing her support for his stance.

In an Instagram story, Ranaut questioned Shah’s integrity, stating that while everyone has personal loyalties, she takes pride in defending the country that sustains her. She accused Shah of benefiting from Indian resources while purportedly advocating for interests aligned with other nations.

Maintaining her characteristically abrasive tone, Ranaut asserted that being compared to a dog is a compliment in the current climate, citing loyalty and trustworthiness as rare virtues. She declared that she would rather be a dog than a “fox” like Shah, intensifying the ongoing war of words between the prominent industry figures.
