Court Reschedules Cross-Examination of Actress Pori Moni in Dhaka Boat Club Assault Case Following Traffic Delay

A Dhaka tribunal on Sunday rescheduled the cross-examination of film actress Pori Moni in a case involving allegations of assault and attempted rape at the Dhaka Boat Club. The court set November 30 as the new date for the proceedings after the actress failed to arrive on time.
The development was confirmed by Pori Moni’s lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat, who stated that Judge Mohammad Sahadat Hossain Bhuiyan of the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 issued the new date during the afternoon session.
Explaining the delay, the lawyer noted that Pori Moni had departed for the courthouse with the intention of appearing by 12:00 p.m. However, she became trapped in heavy traffic, preventing her from reaching the premises by the scheduled time. Reports indicate that the actress eventually arrived at the court complex around 2:30 p.m.
The legal proceedings stem from a case filed by Pori Moni on June 14, 2021, at Savar Model Police Station, in which she accused six individuals of misconduct. Following an investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against three suspects—businessman Nasir U. Mahmood, Tuhin Siddique Omi, and Shah Shahidul Alam—on September 6 of the same year. The court formally framed charges against these three individuals on May 18, 2022, initiating the ongoing trial.
