Police arrest Bidisha Siddique in Dhaka over 2008 fraud case

Gulshan Police arrested Bidisha Siddiq, the former wife of late President Hussain Muhammad Ershad, at a restaurant in the Gulshan area on Tuesday night.
Officers from Gulshan Police Station apprehended Siddiq at Arabica Restaurant at approximately 8:30 p.m. Following the arrest, the officer-in-charge of the station confirmed that the detention was executed based on an outstanding arrest warrant.
The warrant was issued in connection with a fraud case filed against her at the Gulshan Police Station in February 2008, during the tenure of the caretaker government. Siddiq had previously been sentenced to two years in prison in relation to the charges stemming from that case.
