Air Force Wing Commander Saifur Rahman produced before International Crimes Tribunal in Ilyas Ali disappearance case

Air Force Wing Commander Saifur Rahman was produced before the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday in connection with a case involving crimes against humanity related to the enforced disappearance of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Ilias Ali.
The tribunal appearance follows a formal application submitted by the Office of the Chief Prosecutor on August 7, requesting that the court record the arrest of the military officer in the case. Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam previously stated that investigators have uncovered evidence linking Rahman to the disappearance of the opposition leader.
Ilias Ali, a prominent figure who served as the organizing secretary of the BNP and a two-time Member of Parliament for the Sylhet-2 constituency, disappeared from the Banani area of Dhaka on April 17, 2012. Before his tenure as a senior party official, Ali was widely known for his background as a former general secretary of the Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP.
