Anti-Corruption Commission Summons Five Noakhali Science and Technology University Officials Over Recruitment Irregularities

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned five current and former officials of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), including the former vice-chancellor, in connection with alleged irregularities in faculty recruitment. The officials are accused of violating recruitment policies established by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The summons notices were delivered to the university authorities by the ACC’s Noakhali integrated district office on Thursday evening. The notices, signed by ACC Assistant Director and investigating officer Md. Zahed Alam, were originally issued on August 11.
The individuals summoned include former Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Ismail, former Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Rezwanul Haque, Assistant Professor of the Law Department Md. Jamsedul Islam, Assistant Professor of the Law Department Srabanti Dutta, and Acting Registrar Mohammad Tamjid Hossain Chowdhury. They have been directed to appear in person before the investigating officer on August 19 to provide their statements regarding the allegations.
According to the ACC letter, an investigating officer has been appointed to probe claims that the university bypassed established recruitment guidelines during faculty hiring processes. The commission stated that the presence of the concerned individuals is essential for a fair and thorough investigation. Those summoned are required to bring their national identity cards to the hearing. Failure to appear on the scheduled date will be interpreted by the commission as the individuals having no statement to offer regarding the allegations.
Md. Faruque Ahmed, Deputy Director of the ACC’s Noakhali office, confirmed the issuance of the summons. He stated that the investigation was initiated following formal complaints regarding the university’s failure to adhere to mandatory recruitment policies.
Acting Registrar Mohammad Tamjid Hossain Chowdhury confirmed receipt of the notices and noted that the university administration has been duly informed of the proceedings.
