Bangladesh Urges India to Extradite Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Fugitives in High-Level Meeting

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and fostering a more conducive environment for cooperation between the two nations.

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman confirmed that during the meeting, the Bangladesh government formally requested the swift extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been convicted of crimes against humanity, along with the individuals responsible for the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

The discussions also addressed Bangladesh’s formal dissatisfaction regarding an August 5 press conference held by Sheikh Hasina. According to the Foreign Minister, the Indian side acknowledged these concerns and has taken the matter under serious consideration.
