Salman Khan Initiates Housing Project for Five Hundred Flood-Affected Families in Assam

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has launched a major rehabilitation initiative to provide housing for approximately 500 families displaced by the recent devastating floods in the Indian state of Assam.

The project is being executed through Khan’s philanthropic organization, Being Human. The initiative marks the second phase of the foundation’s flood relief efforts in the region, which previously focused on the emergency distribution of food and essential supplies.

According to a report by Mid-Day, the rehabilitation program is already well underway, with 220 semi-permanent houses completed in the worst-hit village of Nepali Khuti. These structures are being handed over to affected families as part of a long-term recovery strategy integrated into the organization’s initial relief planning.

Each housing unit is estimated to cost between 35,000 and 40,000 rupees. Following the success of the initial construction phase, the foundation committed to expanding the project to a total of 500 homes to accommodate a larger number of displaced residents.

In a statement regarding the ongoing relief work, Khan emphasized the moral obligation of citizens to assist those in need, calling upon others to support flood victims within their own means. He asserted that helping fellow human beings is a fundamental responsibility.
