Dhaka weather improves as deep depression weakens and maritime warnings lifted

Heavy rainfall and overcast skies gripped Dhaka on Thursday morning, marking the latest impact of a deep depression that had previously stirred regional weather patterns. Meteorological data recorded nine millimeters of rainfall in the capital within a three-hour window ending at 9:00 a.m., while similar intermittent showers affected southern and central districts, including Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Shariatpur, and Madaripur.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the influence of the deep depression, which had moved toward the coasts of West Bengal and Odisha in India, has begun to wane. As the system weakens, authorities have officially withdrawn the number three local cautionary signals previously issued for the seaports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra.
While the morning in Dhaka was characterized by persistent drizzle and cloud cover, weather officials anticipate the skies will begin to clear by the afternoon. Although light, isolated showers may persist in some areas throughout the day, the intensity of the precipitation is expected to diminish significantly by Friday.
Meteorologists attribute the lingering humidity and potential for brief, scattered thunderstorms to an active monsoon trough. Despite this, the clearing trend suggests a return to more stable weather conditions across much of the country heading into the weekend.
