Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has identified the systematic elimination of mosquito larvae as the primary defense against the ongoing surge of dengue and chikungunya. Speaking at a seminar on mosquito control technology hosted by Youth to World at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, the minister emphasized that traditional chemical interventions have largely proven ineffective in curbing the rising infection rates.

The minister participated in the event via an online platform on Monday, highlighting the urgent need for a collaborative approach between city corporations and independent innovators. He signaled strong support for emerging indigenous technologies, suggesting that pilot programs utilizing locally developed, chemical-based solutions could offer a more sustainable path forward.
