PM Tareque Rahman Commends Army Professionalism During Field Training Exercise in Barishal

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday praised the Bangladesh Army as a pillar of national sovereignty, emphasizing the profound public trust placed in the institution for its role in maintaining security and stability. During a visit to a summer training exercise in Barishal’s Babuganj upazila, the Prime Minister lauded the military for its professionalism, courage, and unwavering patriotism in navigating national crises.

Inspecting the operational readiness of troops in the forested terrain of East Rahmatpur, the Prime Minister observed various tactical drills and combat simulations. He was briefed by senior officers on the army’s strategic preparedness, including a demonstration of anti-drone multi-barrel systems designed to detect and neutralize enemy aerial threats.

Reflecting on his personal connection to the military, the Prime Minister noted that having been raised in an army family, he maintains a deep affinity for the service. He encouraged personnel to uphold their reputation for discipline and sacrifice by continuing to embrace modern technology and rigorous, specialized training. He further pledged the government’s full support for the modernization and capacity-building of the force, expressing his confidence that the Bangladesh Army would continue to enhance its global standing and professional recognition in the years to come.

In a show of solidarity, the Prime Minister spent time with soldiers in the field, sitting among them to discuss their frontline experiences and operational challenges. He partook in a traditional field meal prepared by the troops over portable stoves, consuming a simple lunch of rice, lentils, mashed potatoes, shrimp, and eggs under the same conditions as the personnel.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Information and Broadcasting Zahir Uddin Swapan, the Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, and the Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tarik, alongside other high-ranking military officials.
