Khulna police arrest five members of B Company criminal syndicate, seize illegal firearms

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) have arrested five members of a notorious local criminal gang known as the “B Company,” following a coordinated crackdown aimed at curbing a recent surge in violent crime. Four of the suspects were apprehended during a raid in Dhaka, while a fifth member was captured in Khulna based on intelligence provided by those in custody.

During a press briefing held at the Detective Branch (DB) office in Khalishpur on Monday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohammad Ahaduzzaman Miah confirmed that the arrests were the result of a targeted operation that began on June 1. The initiative was launched in response to growing public concern regarding the activities of armed gangs, drug traffickers, and other criminal elements operating within the city.

The four individuals arrested in the Bangshal area of Dhaka were identified as Al-Amin, 29, Tushar Shikdar, 38, Md. Asif, 25, and Sajjad Hossain Sabbir, 18. Subsequent investigations led officers to the Goborchaka area of Khulna, where they apprehended 24-year-old Abrar Faisal, alias Rafin. Authorities recovered a foreign-made pistol, a revolver, a magazine, and two rounds of 7.65 caliber ammunition during the operation.

According to Deputy Commissioner Miah, the suspects are long-standing members of the B Company and face multiple pending charges, including murder, extortion, and narcotics trafficking. The group had been evading law enforcement by operating from various hideouts. The officer noted that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, which has already provided investigators with significant leads regarding the origins of their illicit weapons and the networks of other criminal syndicates active in the region.

Residents in Khulna have increasingly voiced concerns over the visibility of these gangs, often citing a perceived lack of consistent law enforcement presence. Police officials stated that the ongoing special operations are part of a broader commitment to restoring public order and dismantling organized crime structures that have threatened the safety of the metropolitan area. Investigations remain active as police continue to track down other identified suspects and their associates.
