HSC Examinee Found Dead Hours Before Test in Mymensingh

A teenager scheduled to sit for her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination died on Thursday morning after falling from a multi-story building in Mymensingh, just hours before the tests were set to begin.
Tisha Sarkar, an 18-year-old student of Minto College, was discovered critically injured at the base of the NASA Tower in the city’s Kachijhuli Mosque Road area. Local residents reportedly found the student around 6:00 a.m. and rushed her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where attending physicians declared her dead.

Sarkar, originally from the Tarakanda upazila of the district, had been residing in a student hostel within the six-story building for the past two years to pursue her studies. She was registered to participate in the HSC examinations, which were scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. the same day.
Residents of the building and fellow students residing in the hostel told authorities that they were asleep at the time of the incident and could not provide immediate details regarding the circumstances of her fall.

Police from the Kotwali Model Police Station recovered the body from the scene and transferred it to the Mymensingh Medical College morgue for an autopsy. Ashraful Karim, the additional superintendent of police for Mymensingh, stated that an investigation into the incident is underway. Authorities are currently working to determine whether the death was a suicide or if other factors contributed to the fatal fall, and they have pledged to take appropriate legal action based on their findings.
