Bloodied Body of Woman Recovered from Home in Rangamati’s Barkal

Police in Rangamati’s Barkal upazila have recovered the bloodied body of a 48-year-old woman from her home in the Barunachhari Islampur area of Subalong Union. The victim, Ayesha Begum, was discovered by her husband and son on Sunday evening after they returned home from a local sawmill.
According to the victim’s son, Ashraf Ali, he and his father had left home in the morning to work. Upon returning at approximately 7:30 p.m., they found Ayesha’s body lying on the floor. Her head sustained severe trauma, and investigators recovered a hammer and a brick from the immediate vicinity, suggesting the use of heavy objects in the assault.
The crime scene also showed signs of a targeted robbery. The family reported that a cupboard inside the home had been pried open, and 300,000 taka—proceeds from a recent cattle sale—was missing. Local ward member Md. Jahangir Alam confirmed that Ayesha had been alone throughout the day before the discovery was made.
Barkal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident, stating that law enforcement officials have processed the scene and recovered the body. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the homicide and are preparing to take formal legal action as they work to identify the perpetrators behind the fatal robbery.
