Dewan Shamsul Abedin, former MP and grandson of Hasan Raja, passed away

Dewan Shamsul Abedin (82), great-grandson of Sunamganj former Member of Parliament and poet Hasan Raja, passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He died on Sunday night at his home due to heart disease.
This politician has left numerous relatives and well-wishers including his wife, one son, daughter.

Former district BNP president Dewan Shamsul Abedin was elected as a member of Parliament as the party’s candidate from Sunamganj-3 constituency in the 1979 elections. Later, he participated in the national elections as a candidate of BNP in 1991 and Awami League in 2001 in Sunamganj-4 constituency but could not win.
His funeral was held at Tegharia Jame Masjid in the town on Monday around 2 o’clock. He was later buried next to Hasan Raja’s grave at Gazi’s Darga Cemetery in Tegharia area.
