Prime Minister Tareq Rahman Unveils Commemorative Stamps for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman unveiled a commemorative postage stamp on Thursday to mark the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The ceremony took place at his office in the National Parliament Secretariat.
In addition to the 10-taka commemorative stamp, the Prime Minister introduced a 50-taka souvenir sheet featuring an official envelope and a 5-taka data card, both of which were inaugurated with a special commemorative seal. The event was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary, Zahidul Islam Rony.
Several high-ranking officials were in attendance, including Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam, Ministry Secretary Bilkis Jahan Rimi, Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon, and Additional Director General of the Directorate of Posts S.M. Harunur Rashid.
The 2026 tournament, which marks the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, begins today. The event represents a historic milestone as it becomes the first to feature an expanded field of 48 participating teams. Furthermore, it is the first time in tournament history that the hosting duties are being shared across three nations: the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
