You have to take responsibility for Bangladesh, said the Prime Minister to the young athletes

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman called upon the young athletes to present Bangladesh positively to the world in the future through sports. He said to the young athletes, ‘You will present Bangladesh in front of the world through sports. Everyone will be an ambassador of Bangladesh.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the new Kundi Sports at the Sylhet district stadium in Rikabibazar area of the city on Saturday afternoon. The nationally organized competition was officially inaugurated through his speech. Athletes and students participating in the competition were present at the stadium. Besides, there were people of various classes and occupations.
Addressing the small players, the Prime Minister said, ‘We have embassies in different countries of the world, right? As the embassy is, we have the ambassador. By talking about various issues, they are trying to present Bangladesh in front of foreign countries. I want you who are sitting here, who are sitting in stadiums all over Bangladesh today, my friends, God willing, you will bring Bangladesh to the world through sports.
Tarek Rahman commented that young athletes and students are the future of Bangladesh. He said, ‘You have to take responsibility for Bangladesh. Inshallah international quality players will be made from among you in the future. In the future, international quality doctors, lawyers and engineers will be made from among you. International quality leadership will be created from among you in the future Insha Allah. You will lead this country. Among you will be MP, Minister, Prime Minister, President. You are the future of Bangladesh.
Urging the students to pay attention to their studies, the Prime Minister said, ‘Everyone has to study, but studies cannot be excused. But everyone should play along with studying. Have to make your own. You have to decide what you are going to do and when you can decide yourself, you can decide your target, then you have to move forward to achieve that target.’
After that, Tariq Rahman said, “Be it in the field of sports, be it in the field of education, we are on the side of our little friends as much as we have the capability of our country from the government. Some will be singers, some will be musicians. Each will be different. The government, the state is on your side. Because that is the future of Bangladesh that I said a little earlier. You will lead Bangladesh in the future.
The Prime Minister also said, ‘We have to make ourselves beautiful. A player who wants to be a player must be a player. A singer who wants to be a singer must be a singer. A musician who wants to be a musician must be a musician. Anyone who wants to be an architect must be an architect. Whoever wants to be an engineer, must be an engineer. Who wants to be a doctor, must be a doctor. Each of you must develop. Only then will Bangladesh develop. The future of Bangladesh is completely dependent on you.
Addressing the young students in the stadium, Tariq Rahman said, ‘The better you develop, the better and stronger Bangladesh will develop. So little friends, our time is almost up. Now Bangladesh is looking at you. We will start with. You have to take Bangladesh forward.’ At this time, he called the young athletes as ‘Chief Guests’.
The program started with the National Anthem at 4:30 PM before the Prime Minister’s speech. Later a documentary on the new budding sports was shown. Then in his speech, the Minister of State for Youth and Sports. Aminul Haque said, initiatives have been taken to create long-term training and development opportunities through new budding sports to explore new talent from the grass roots.
In the event, it was informed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports that the program of new budding sportsmen has been taken to develop skilled athletes from the grassroots level to the national level in order to implement the election manifesto of the government. In this, the latent sports talent of children and adolescents aged 12 to 14 years will be discovered, selected and an opportunity will be created for their talent development in the state. Eight events will be contested. These are Football, Cricket, Athletics, Kabaddi, Badminton, Martial Arts, Swimming and Chess.
Meanwhile, after inaugurating the new Kundi Sports, the Prime Minister went to the District Shilpakala Academy in Shahi Eidgah area of Tariq Rahman Nagar. There he gave a speech as the chief guest at the district and metropolitan BNP committee meetings. It was presided over by the Acting President of Metropolitan BNP, Rezaul Hasan Kois Lodi. The meeting ended at half past seven in the evening.
Two ministers of Sylhet, an advisor to the prime minister, members of BNP from Sylhet division, leaders of BNP and allied organizations were present in the meeting. District BNP General Secretary Emran Ahmad Chowdhury and Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury presided over the event.
Prime Minister Tariq Rahman inaugurated the re-excavation of Basia Canal in Sylhet Sadar Upazila before the inauguration of the new Kundi Sports. Later he gave a speech as the chief guest in a meeting there. The Prime Minister said, ‘You elected this government and sent it to power. The biggest responsibility of the government is to look after the interests of the people of the country. The number one responsibility of this government is to solve the problems of the people of this country.
Prime Minister reached Basia Canal area around 1:10 PM. He went down to the canal and cut the soil with a spade and announced the opening of the excavation. Later, he exchanged greetings with the laborers who took part in the excavation in Basia river. Then he planted trees on the banks of the river. The Prime Minister said, ‘This government is a farmer-friendly government. We have launched Krishak Card. Gradually we will deliver the farmer card to all the farmers of Bangladesh. Farmers will get loan, fertilizer, seeds, pesticides benefits through this card. In addition, you will get two and a half thousand rupees.
Excavation of Basia River was done by former President Ziaur Rahman, Tarek Rahman said, “It was excavated by the martyred President Ziaur Rahman in 1977. This canal is now closed. If we cut this canal, about 80 thousand farmers will be directly benefited. And besides these 80 thousand, another one and a half lakh farmers will benefit indirectly. If this canal is cut, about 60 thousand metric tons of crops will be produced more on both sides of this canal.
Commenting on the promise made before the formation of the BNP government, the Prime Minister said, “I said, if the BNP forms the government, we will waive the agricultural loans of up to 10,000 taka to the farmers with interest. After the election we kept our promise within 10 days. We have waived off the agricultural loan of 12 lakh farmers with 12 lakh farmers who had Tk 10,000 agricultural loan with interest. We want the farmers of this country to be well. We want the people of the village to be well.
Commenting that BNP will work for the people, the Prime Minister said, ‘Our only accountability is to the people of this country, to the people of this country. That is why we want to carry out all those programs. The mills and factories that were closed for employment in the country are reopened and initiatives will be taken to go to the countries of the world where the youth want to go for work.
At one stage of the Prime Minister’s speech, the crowd started chanting “Dulabhai, Dulabhai” referring to Tariq Rahman as his “son-in-law”. At this time the Prime Minister asked them to stop. When the slogans did not stop, Tarek Rahman said, “If you don’t let Dulabhai speak, Dulabhai will go away.” What do I do? Shall I talk or not go?” There was laughter in the crowd. When they requested to speak, the Prime Minister said, ‘Then you have to keep quiet. If I speak, then the in-laws will have to listen.’
In the canal digging program, Minister of Commerce Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Minister of Water Resources. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Administrator of Sylhet City Corporation Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, Member of Parliament MA Malik, Tahsina Rushdir Luna and Emran Ahmad Chowdhury, Administrator of Sylhet Zila Parishad Abul Kaher Chowdhury, Deputy Administrator of Sylhet. Sarwar Alam, BNP Joint Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui, Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President Rezaul Hasan Kois Lodi, General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury and others were present.
Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived in Sylhet by plane from Dhaka this morning. Later, around 10:30, he visited the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Dargagate area of the city. Later, at 10:55 AM, Sylhet Circuit House-adjacent to Surma River in Chandnighat area, along with beautification of both banks of Surma River, he inaugurated the foundation stone laying of the flood-proof infrastructure construction project. After that, Sudhi addressed the gathering as the chief guest at the Nagar Bhavan premises.
Prime Minister Tariq Rahman left for Sylhet Osmani International Airport after the party’s meeting at around 7:15 PM. From there at seven in the evening he left for Dhaka.
