Seven-year-old boy allegedly raped in Rangamati

A seven-year-old girl has been hospitalized after allegedly being sexually assaulted in Rangamati town. The incident occurred on Thursday night around 8 p.m. The child received initial treatment at Rangamati General Hospital before being transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for further care.
According to local residents, the child was playing in front of her home when a young neighbor lured her into his room and assaulted her. The family discovered the incident after the child began bleeding. They then rushed her to Rangamati General Hospital. The alleged perpetrator has been on the run since the incident.
Dr. Shawkat Akbar Khan, the residential medical officer at Rangamati General Hospital, confirmed that the child was brought to the facility around 8:45 p.m. “She received initial treatment here and was then sent to Chittagong Medical for advanced care,” he stated.
Mohammad Jasim Uddin, the officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station in Rangamati, confirmed awareness of the incident. “We have learned about the alleged rape, and the event is true,” he told Prothom Alo. “However, the child’s family has not yet filed a formal case at the police station.”
