Pakistani Star Faces Sanctions After Failing Doping Test

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz faces a doping violation after testing positive for a banned substance, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) initiating an internal disciplinary process.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) formally notified the PCB of the failed test, which stemmed from a sample collected during the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka earlier this year. The PCB confirmed it has begun its investigation and will inform the ICC of the findings imminently.

The development has immediate repercussions for Nawaz’s playing career. His contract with English county side Surrey for the T20 Blast, scheduled to begin on May 26, has been rescinded by the PCB, which had initially provided him with a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Nawaz, who is currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Multan Sultans and bowled three overs against Rawalpindi on Tuesday, now faces an uncertain future in international and other foreign leagues pending the PCB’s final decision.
