According to railway police and family members, Josna Begum had traveled to the Comilla Medical College Hospital for medical treatment accompanied by her granddaughter. While the pair was walking toward the Shashangacha bus terminal near the railway station to catch transport home, they attempted to cross the tracks. They were struck by the Dhaka-to-Chattogram bound Subarna Express train and died instantly.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Mamunur Rashid of the Comilla Railway Station outpost, which operates under the Laksam Railway Police Station, stated that forensic teams from the Criminal Investigation Department were deployed to confirm the identities of the victims. Following the identification, family members were notified of the tragedy.

Local witnesses suggested that the accident likely occurred because the victims did not notice the approaching train while crossing the tracks. A relative, Zohra Begum, reported that the family was informed of the deaths via a telephone call from police at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Railway police confirmed that the bodies have been transported to the Comilla Railway Station area. The remains will be handed over to the grieving family following the completion of legal procedures. A case of unnatural death is being filed at the Laksam Railway Police Station.
