Police recover body of missing woman with signs of trauma in Rajbari Pangsas Upazila

Police in Rajbari recovered the body of a 35-year-old woman on Wednesday evening, two days after she was reported missing from her home in Pangsha Upazila.

The victim, a divorced mother, had been residing at her father’s residence following her separation. She was last seen on Tuesday morning when she left home. Her body was discovered by local residents around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, who subsequently alerted law enforcement.

Authorities noted that the site where the body was found is located several kilometers from the victim’s residence. Preliminary observations indicate visible injuries to the woman’s face and throat, as well as damage to one of her eyes. Signs of decomposition were also present. Investigators suspect the victim may have been strangled to death at least 24 hours prior to the discovery.

Family members have alleged that the victim was raped before being murdered and are currently in the process of filing a formal homicide case with the local police.

Pangsha Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Moinul Islam confirmed that the body was transported to Rajbari Sadar Hospital on Thursday morning for an autopsy.

Officer Islam stated that the autopsy report will determine the exact cause of death and verify whether a sexual assault occurred. Police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.
