Police recover 1.75 million Taka after armed robbery of expatriate in Raozan

RAUZAN, Bangladesh — Police have arrested one suspect and recovered 1.75 million taka following a broad-daylight robbery in which 2.35 million taka was stolen from an expatriate in Rauzan, Chittagong.
The incident occurred last Tuesday at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the Sebakhola area of Haldia Union. According to the victim, Mohammad Ahmad Ullah, 26, he was traveling by private car to a brick kiln in the Brindaban area when four individuals armed with local weapons intercepted the vehicle. The suspects threatened and assaulted the occupants before fleeing with a bag containing 2.35 million taka.
Ahmad Ullah, who recently returned from the United Arab Emirates, had withdrawn a total of 2.517 million taka from four different bank accounts earlier that day. The funds were intended for the purchase of bricks on behalf of his cousin, who resides in Qatar.
Following the report, local law enforcement launched an immediate operation in the surrounding areas. Police arrested 52-year-old Jainal Abedin on the evening of the robbery and successfully recovered 1.75 million taka in his possession.
A case has been filed at the Rauzan Police Station naming Jainal Abedin, along with three other suspects identified as Shahidul Islam, 38, Salauddin, 42, and Alamgir, 40.
Rauzan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam stated that investigations are ongoing to recover the remaining stolen funds and to apprehend the three accomplices who remain at large.
