Police Arrest Tow Truck Driver Following Death of HSC Examinee in Chittagong Road Accident

Police have arrested the driver of a towing truck in connection with a road accident that killed Nafisa Nawal, an 18-year-old Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) candidate, in the EPZ area of Chattogram.
Shamim Biswas, 31, was taken into custody by police on Sunday night in the Freeport area of the city. He is employed as a driver for Max Group, a contracting firm, and resides at the company’s site office near the Jamiatul Falah Mosque.
The incident occurred Saturday morning when the towing truck struck a ride-sharing motorcycle carrying Nafisa. She was traveling to attend her Information and Communication Technology examination. Following the collision, she was transported to Chattogram Medical College Hospital by an intern doctor, where she was declared dead upon arrival.
Nafisa was a student at the Chattogram Metropolitan Police School and College and a resident of the Kathgar area. Originally from Barguna district, she was the only daughter of Mamun Mia. Educators noted that she was an active student who balanced her studies with various extracurricular activities.
Following the tragedy, Mamun Mia filed a case under the Road Transport Act at the EPZ Police Station, naming the truck driver as the primary suspect. The driver had fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Officer-in-Charge of the EPZ Police Station, Muhammad Atiqur Rahman, confirmed that the suspect was forwarded to court on Monday. Police investigations remain ongoing as the department processes the case against Biswas.
