Nine injured and eight homes vandalized in land dispute clash in Faridpur Saltha

At least nine people were injured following a violent clash between two factions over a land dispute in Boro Bangrail village under Saltha Upazila of Faridpur district on Tuesday afternoon. The confrontation also resulted in the vandalism and looting of at least eight residential properties.

The conflict stemmed from a long-standing property dispute between local residents Monir Biswas and Mishru Biswas. According to police and local sources, the dispute escalated into a verbal argument around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, which quickly deteriorated into a physical altercation. Supporters from both sides eventually armed themselves with indigenous weapons and engaged in recurring clashes that lasted for approximately one hour.

Of the nine individuals injured during the violence, six sustained wounds from sharp weapons and were transported to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. Local residents reported that participants in the clash exploited the chaos to launch targeted attacks on rival properties, leading to the reported damage and looting of eight homes.

Both Monir Biswas and Mishru Biswas could not be reached for comment as they had fled the area following the incident.

Officer-in-Charge of Saltha Police Station, Mohammad Bablur Rahman Khan, confirmed that officers arrived at the scene shortly after the violence began and successfully brought the situation under control. He stated that the police are currently in the process of initiating legal action. Additional police forces have been deployed to the village to maintain order and ensure the area remains stable.
