Mother and child wounded in three-way armed clash at Rohingya camp in Coxs Bazar

A mother and her seven-year-old son were wounded during a violent clash between three rival armed groups at a Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. The gunfire persisted intermittently from Thursday afternoon until late night.
The victims, Tahera Begum, wife of Nur Alam, and her son Mohammad Yusuf, are residents of Block B-41 in Camp 8 East, Balukhali. Both are currently receiving medical treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Witnesses and law enforcement officials reported that the armed confrontation involved members of the Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA), the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), and the Arakan Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO). The fighting, which occurred in the B-40 and B-41 block areas, escalated when ARA and ARSA militants reportedly formed an alliance to target RSO members.
Mohammad Riaz Uddin Ahmed, the acting commanding officer of the 8th Armed Police Battalion (APBN), which oversees security at the camps, stated that the situation has been brought under control. He added that security forces have launched an operation to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the violence.
