Local politician killed and Union Parishad chairman injured in Noakhali road accident

A 55-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after a microbus collided with a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in the Senbagh Upazila of Noakhali on Saturday evening.
The deceased, Mosharraf Hossain Majumdar, was a resident of Kesharpar Union and served as the vice president of the local branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The accident occurred on the Senbagh-Sonaimuri road in the Rastar Matha area of Kesharpar Union.
Among the injured are Abdul Haque, also known as Suman, who serves as the local Union Parishad chairman, and the unidentified driver of the auto-rickshaw. Both survivors were initially taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced care.
According to local residents, the incident took place as the Union Parishad chairman and Majumdar were traveling toward Kankirhat in the auto-rickshaw after leaving the union office. The microbus struck the vehicle with significant force, leaving the auto-rickshaw mangled. Majumdar succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge of Senbagh Police Station, Abdur Rahim Sarkar, confirmed late Saturday that police have seized the microbus involved in the collision. The driver fled the scene, and no arrests have been made. Authorities stated that further legal action will be determined based on the formal complaint filed by the victim’s family.
