Husband detained after fatal hoe attack on wife in Chandanaish

Police have detained a man for the alleged murder of his wife in the Dohazari municipality area of Chandanaish, Chittagong, on Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Nur Haba, and the suspect is her 24-year-old husband, Mohammad Selim. Both individuals were identified as Rohingya citizens currently residing in a rented house owned by Ayub Ali Sowdagar in the Ullapara area of Dohazari.

According to police reports, the incident occurred after Selim left the residence carrying a spade, purportedly to go to work. Upon returning home shortly thereafter, he discovered his wife attempting to leave the house with the door locked. A heated argument ensued, during which Selim allegedly attacked his wife with the spade, inflicting multiple fatal injuries.

Local residents rushed the victim to the Dohazari Health Complex, where attending physicians declared her dead upon arrival.

Assistant Superintendent of Police for the Anwara Circle, Mahmudul Hasan, confirmed the incident and the subsequent arrest of Mohammad Selim at the hospital. Authorities stated that legal proceedings, including the formal filing of a murder case, are currently underway.
