Elderly couple dies from electric shock while operating grass-cutting machine in Jhenaidah

A husband and wife died from electrocution while using a mechanical fodder cutter in Sailkupa, Jhenaidah, on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at Madhabpur village under the Manoharpara Union of the upazila.
The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Amarendra Nath Bhowmik and his 60-year-old wife, Mina Bhowmik.
According to local resident Mukul Hossain, Amarendra Nath was operating the electric grass-cutting machine at his cowshed when he accidentally came into contact with a live current. When his wife, Mina, attempted to rescue him, she was also electrocuted. Neighbors rushed to the scene and transported the couple to the Sailkupa Upazila Health Complex, where medical personnel declared them dead upon arrival.
Asaduzzaman Zoha, a physician at the emergency department of the health complex, confirmed that the couple was already deceased when they were brought to the facility.
Law enforcement officials visited the site following the incident. Humayun Kabir Molla, the officer-in-charge of Sailkupa Police Station, stated that formal legal proceedings regarding the matter are currently underway.
