Dhaka Metropolitan Police Arrest 500 Suspects in Massive Capital-Wide Sweep

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 500 individuals across the capital during a series of coordinated operations conducted over the past 24 hours. Following the arrests, authorities have filed 58 separate cases across various police stations in the city.
The operations took place between midnight Tuesday and midnight Wednesday, according to a press statement released by the DMP on Thursday.
Data provided by the DMP indicates that the arrests were distributed across several divisions. The Mirpur division reported the highest number of apprehensions with 101 arrests, followed by Motijheel with 85, Wari with 65, Tejgaon with 53, Lalbagh with 49, Uttara with 43, Gulshan with 34, the Detective Branch (DB) with 17, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit with seven, and the Ramna division with 46 arrests.
During the raids, law enforcement officials seized a variety of illicit items and weaponry. Recovered materials include two foreign-made pistols, five rounds of ammunition, two magazines, 12.2 kilograms of cannabis, 6,647 yaba pills, 40 bottles of Phensedyl, and 100 grams of heroin.
