Businessman found murdered in his Rajbari home as police launch investigation

A 40-year-old businessman was brutally murdered inside his residence in Goalanda, Rajbari, on Saturday, prompting an extensive investigation by local police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The victim, identified as Faruk Sheikh, was found dead at his home in the Jamtala Bazar area around 2:00 p.m. local time. Police officials stated that the body bore signs of severe trauma, including deep gashes from sharp weapons on his chest and face. In a gruesome display of violence, the victim’s left wrist and right elbow had been severed from his body and were discovered on the floor of the room.

According to family members, Faruk Sheikh, who operated a tea shop in the Daulatdia East Para area, had returned home at approximately 6:00 a.m. Saturday after working the previous night. He lived alone in one of the rooms within his family home, which he shared with his brothers and a female tenant.

Josna Khatun, the wife of the victim’s younger brother, discovered the body upon returning to the residence after completing errands. She noted that Faruk had experienced a previous physical attack on his life approximately six to seven months ago. Family members described a troubled history, noting that Faruk had been married multiple times, though he was currently living by himself.

Law enforcement officers from the Goalanda Ghat Police Station arrived at the scene at 3:00 p.m., followed by a forensic team from the CID in Faridpur, which collected evidence from the crime scene. Senior police officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police for the Rajbari Sadar Circle, also conducted an inspection of the premises.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Goalanda Ghat Police Station, Shafiqul Islam, confirmed that the body has been sent to the Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have launched a probe to determine the motive behind the killing and to identify the perpetrators. While no suspects have been detained yet, investigators stated they are pursuing multiple leads to ensure a swift resolution to the case.
