Pakistan Pledges Unconditional Defense Support to Saudi Arabia Amid Houthi Escalation

Pakistan is fully prepared to take all necessary measures to defend Saudi Arabia, declaring its commitment to the kingdom's security as unconditional, according to Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The remarks were made during an interview with Arab News, excerpts of which were published on the social media platform X on Friday. The statement comes amid intensifying conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi rebel movement in Yemen.
Recently, the Houthis have expanded their control along Yemen's Red Sea coast near the strategically vital Bab el-Mandeb Strait, while continuing drone and missile attacks targeting Saudi territory. In response, Riyadh has escalated airstrikes against Houthi positions.
The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen alleged this week that the rebels targeted the holy city of Mecca, sparking widespread anger across the Muslim world. The Houthis immediately rejected the accusation, labeling the claim as false.
In his interview, Lieutenant General Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan stands firmly alongside Saudi Arabia through both diplomatic channels and direct support. He stated that Pakistan will take all measures required for the protection of the Two Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina, as well as the security of Saudi Arabia, to whatever extent and manner the Saudi leadership desires.
Chaudhry added that the Pakistani people stand in solidarity with the people of Saudi Arabia, leaving no room for doubt that Pakistan will counter any aggression directed against the kingdom.
The military spokesperson noted that Pakistan's political and military leaderships are maintaining regular communication and consultations with Saudi Arabia. He also highlighted that Pakistan is sincerely working toward a peaceful resolution of the current complex situation through dialogue, engaging regional countries and other international partners.
When questioned about a phone call on Wednesday between Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi—whose country backs the Houthi movement—Chaudhry reiterated that Pakistan's civilian and military leaderships remain in constant and regular contact with Saudi authorities regarding these developments.
