Youth and Sports Minister Aminul Haque has emphasized the critical role of sports and cultural festivals in fostering patriotism and fraternity among the younger generation. He stated that sports are instrumental in combating societal disorder and cultivating a disciplined environment.
Haque made these remarks on Tuesday at the inauguration of the “Cute Boishakhi Sports Festival” held at Polton Maidan in the capital to celebrate the Bengali New Year, 1433.
The minister affirmed the government’s commitment to promoting Bengali folk traditions and rural sports on a global stage. He outlined a comprehensive plan to organize similar rural sports festivals in every district across the country, starting next Baishakh. This initiative, developed in coordination with the ministry and local partners, aims to reintroduce traditional, fading games to the new generation.
Highlighting a focus on the advancement of female athletes, Haque revealed that the Prime Minister has specific, significant plans for women in sports that will be implemented imminently. He also hinted at a major announcement regarding the development of women’s sports organizations in the near future.
