Mohamed Salah likely played his final match for Liverpool on Saturday after suffering an injury during the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

The Egyptian star was forced off in the 59th minute of the 3-1 victory, with his current fitness status casting doubt over any further appearances this season. As Salah left the pitch, he waved to the home supporters, who responded with applause, suggesting a farewell to the Anfield faithful.

Manager Arne Slot confirmed after the match that the severity of Salah’s hamstring injury is yet to be determined. With the season nearing its conclusion, the possibility of Salah returning to the field for Liverpool appears uncertain.

“We can’t say anything yet; the next decision will be made after understanding the extent of his injury,” Slot stated. He added that Salah is highly focused on his fitness and will take the necessary time for recovery.

The coach’s remarks, coupled with the fact that his return is not guaranteed before the season’s end, strongly indicate that the Crystal Palace match may have been Salah’s last for the club.

Adding to this speculation, Ehab El-Komy, a director for the Egyptian national team, stated that Salah’s recovery could take approximately four weeks, implying his club season is over. However, he expressed confidence that Salah will be fully fit for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

This season has seen a dip in Salah’s usually prolific form, with reports of disagreements with the coaching staff and some absences contributing to a tally of just seven Premier League goals, his lowest since joining Liverpool. Since arriving from Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 257 goals in 435 appearances, making him Liverpool’s third-highest goal scorer of all time.
