Eduardo Camavinga has apologized to Real Madrid supporters after receiving a red card in their Champions League quarter-final defeat to Bayern Munich, acknowledging his dismissal contributed to the team’s elimination.
The French midfielder’s sending off in the second leg at the Allianz Arena proved to be a critical turning point. Playing with ten men, Real Madrid conceded two late goals to Bayern, ultimately losing the match 4-3 and exiting the competition 6-4 on aggregate.
The incident sparked significant debate, with Spanish media criticizing Camavinga’s actions and suggesting his departure weakened Real’s defense during a crucial phase of the game.
Following the match, Camavinga took to social media to express his regret. “I accept my mistake. I apologize to my team and the fans. Thank you for your support. Hala Madrid, always,” he stated.
However, Real Madrid assistant coach Álvaro Arbeloa questioned the referee’s decision to issue the second yellow card, implying it was a response to pressure from Bayern players.
