Expatriate Youth Found Dead With Tied Limbs Hanging From Tree in Kishoreganj
Police recover the body of a 25-year-old expatriate with his hands, feet, and mouth tied from a tree in Kishoreganjs Bhairab upazila, just weeks after his return from Singapore
Police in Kishoreganj have recovered the hanging body of a 25-year-old expatriate worker with his hands, legs, and mouth tied in Bhairab Upazila. The grim discovery was made Tuesday morning from a tree adjacent to the victim's residence in Purba Nayahati village under Kalikaprasad Union.
The deceased was identified as Rokon Uddin, son of Sattar Mia from the same village. Rokon had spent approximately three years working in Singapore before returning to Bangladesh a month and a half ago. He was unmarried and lived with his family, residing in a separate room within the homestead.
According to family members, Rokon's body was spotted hanging from the tree in the morning, prompting them to alert law enforcement. The victim's father, Sattar Mia, stated that he was away from the house on Monday night operating an irrigation pump in agricultural fields, while Rokon's mother and elder brother were at home. Relatives reported that Rokon left his room around 1:00 AM, leading household members to assume he had gone outside to make a phone call. It remains unconfirmed whether he returned to his quarters afterward. Family members expressed complete bewilderment regarding the potential motives or perpetrators behind the incident.
Investigators recovered Rokon's mobile phone near the scene of the crime, though the device was found without a SIM card. Neighbours noted that the recently returned expatriate had planned to travel to Cox's Bazar by train later that night alongside several friends.
Bhairab Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman noted that while there were no visible injury marks on the body, preliminary assessments indicate that Rokon may have been bound and subsequently hanged, or killed before being strung up on the tree. Law enforcement authorities have launched an exhaustive investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and determine culpability.
