33 killed in Myanmar army airstrike in Rakhine

At least 33 civilians have been killed in a deadly military airstrike near a market area in western Myanmar's conflict-ridden Rakhine state. Reuters news.
Another 36 people were injured in the incident, according to the Arakan Army, the rebel group that controls the area, and local aid workers.
The airstrike took place on Monday (September 28) in an area adjacent to a market in the northern Rakhine riverside town of Kyauktao. Wai Hun Aung, head of a local relief team, confirmed the number of casualties. He said the location where the attack was carried out was far away from the main battlefield and had no direct link or involvement in the ongoing armed conflict.
It should be noted that since the military coup of 2021, civil war has been going on throughout Myanmar. Various armed rebel groups, including Arakandi, continue to fight against the military junta in different parts of the country. However, there was no immediate comment from the Myanmar government about the attack.
Earlier, the military demanded that they exercise maximum restraint to avoid civilian casualties. According to local observers, this is one of the worst civilian casualties in Rakhine since a deadly airstrike on a state hospital last December.
