Iran Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Survived Two US-Israel Airstrikes Before Taking Office
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei narrowly survived two separate aerial bombardments by United States and Israeli forces during a joint military operation, according to senior Iranian clerical leadership. The disclosures were made by Ayatollah Mohsen Heidari Ale Kasir, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, during an interview with a Qatar-based media outlet.
The initial strike occurred in late February targeting the residential compound of the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The attack resulted in the death of the elder Khamenei and left Mojtaba Khamenei severely injured, necessitating his immediate transfer to a hospital in Iran's capital city of Tehran.
Shortly after his admission, United States military forces reportedly bombed the medical facility, forcing the current leader to escape from beneath the rubble. Following the twin assaults, he was swiftly relocated to an undisclosed secure location and has since remained out of the public eye.
Ayatollah Mohsen Heidari Ale Kasir further disclosed that Mojtaba Khamenei was unaware of his impending selection as the nation's new Supreme Leader prior to the formal announcement. He assumed the high office after securing 50 out of 59 total votes. While ongoing speculation suggests he remains in seclusion recovering from his injuries, the President of Iran recently asserted that he is in complete health.
