In October, Rooppur's second unit gets nuclear fuel: Rosatom
Supply of nuclear fuel (uranium) to the second unit of Ruppur nuclear power plant in Pabna is going to start from next October. All the necessary fuel supply of this unit will be completed by next December. This information was given by the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom" in a statement on Monday.
In the statement, Rosatom said that this fuel will be sent to Bangladesh in several flights by air as per the Rooppur project agreement and schedule. This delivery process will be completed by the end of December starting next October.
Earlier in October 2023, the first shipment of uranium for the first unit of the Rooppur nuclear power plant arrived in Bangladesh. At that time, the 'Graduation' certificate of the power plant was officially handed over.
The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission under the Ministry of Science and Technology is implementing the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project with financial and technical support from Russia. The two units of the project will generate 1,200 megawatts of total electricity of 2,400 megawatts. Rosatom's engineering wing is serving as the general designer and prime contractor for the project.
